Thunder is probable in the north. Northerly lo northeasterly winds, moderate lo strong, increasing strong to gale at times. .Moderate but increasing seas southward from Capo Kguiont and rough northward from East Cape. Local outlook Overcast, with intermittent heavy rain. Mild temperatures. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 29,35 in. Midnight, Monday . 30.30 in. Temperature in shade yesterday (to mid-night)—-Maximum, C7c188.; Minimum, 57dag. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows:—An anti-cyclone is moving.to tho eastward off New Zealand, while a fairly intense cyclone is heading from the Tasman Sea toward the North Island, Indications are for easterly to northerly winds of gale force in parts of the Far North, elsewhere moderate to strong. A change to couth-westerlies is probable in about 24 hours. Seas smooth to moderate at first, hut later rising rapidly. Strong northerly winds to gales in the eastern Tasman Sea, but a change to south-westerlies is advancing from the westward. Seas becoming rough. The weather will bo dull and misty or foggy, with general rain, and many heavy falls from Nelson and Marlborough northward. Some flooding in Auckland Province. Temperatures mild.
