SINGULAR ACCIDENT.
YOUNG BATHER INJURED. STRUCK BY BOAT'S PROPELLER. GIRL HURT AT KAWAU ISLAND. While bathing in North Harbour, Kawau Island, yesterday morning, Miss Ruth Wiles, aged 15, daughter of Mr. 11. 0. Wiles, of 21, Lucerne Road, Remuera, was accidentally struck by the propeller of an outboard motor-boat and received severe lacerations on the right thigh and right ankle. Tho drjver of the boat was manoeuvring in the harbour and failed to notice the bather, who was hit when the small boat made a sudden turn.
Miss Wiles was brought to Auckland in her father's launch and was conveyed by the St. John Ambulance to a private hospital, where she was admitted at 3 p.m., nearly four hours after the accident. Although her injuries are extremely painful they are not regarded as very serious.
