PUBLIC SERVICE SALARIES.

Sir,—With regard to the propped "cut" in public servants' salaries, I wish to suggest the following scale* which I think would be very equitable:—Salaries over £751, 15 per' cent.; from £5Ol to £750; 12i per cent.; frpm £551 to> WUU„ 10 per cent, j from £201" to ■ £350, 7£ per cent.; £2OO-and under, and temporary employees, 5 per cent. I suggest thai, tho difference between the amount thill would save and the amount which a 10 per cent "cut" would produce, should bo made un by an extra duty on liquor. If people will not drink locally-produced wines and beers, and help ISew Zealand workers, let them help the country by paying an extra duty.
