JOCKEYS' TACTICS.

"Fair. Play" writes as follows:—The

thanks ol tho racing publio are due to you for your article on the subject of jockeys' tuctics. I was at the Rotorua races, and, following upon the incident you refer to, d was eo disgusted that I did not attend the meeting at Te Aroha, and the club lost a certain amount of investment. However, I wan present at Pukekohe. and again similar factics were indulged in. lam pleased to see that your sporting writer took note of these incidents and made fearless comment them. If those responsible do not see that a stop is put to such practices the writing will soon appear on the wall. Surely when ir embers of the publio can see so Plainly what is going on, those controlling the meeting must know that all is not as it should be, or elso they arc not competent to' fill the positions they occupy. The. remedy seems to bo to put tho control of rac/ng in tho hands of stipendiary stewards vho will act fearlessly and make examples of the jockeys who adopti tho tactics you «efer to in the Heuald o£ Marcli 10.
