THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE. FURTHER INCREASES SHOWN. Further increases in the prices for sound securities were recorded on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. Quotations covered the widest range for many weeks, and a healthy volume of business was put through. Two sales were recorded in the gilt-edge section, tax-free, 1938, bonds gaining 7s 6d on the last Southern sale to change hands at £93 15s. The 1933, taxable issue, was 2s 6d easier at £99.

In the banking group Commercials showed a further gain, selling twice at 15s lOd, compared with 15s 6d in the South the day before, and 15s 2d in Auckland on Friday. New South Wales gained 10s. New Zealands also showed an improvement, selling at up to 495, compared with 48s 9d on Tuesday. Unions changed hands at £8 12s 6d, compared with the previous sale at £B. , Business was done in South British Insurance at a gain of 3d, a sale being reported from late the previous afternoon at 52s 6d, and another sale was made at this price during the day. The improved tone of the loan and agency section was sustained. Auckland Gas sold twice at the previous day's higher price of 23s 3d. Buyers of Kauri Timbers moved up 6d to Bs, but selleis were not attracted. New Zealand Breweries were steady at the previous day s slightly easier quotations. The miscellaneous section had a very firm tone, but a comparatively wide margin continued to be shown between buying and selling quotations and only three sales were recorded. The market for several Australian industrials showed a slight improvement. Wilsons Cements changed hands at 9d above the market at the time of the previous Auckland sale, over a fortnight ago. Mount Lyells were 8. Bhade easier.
