OUTPUT IN PROVINCE.

HIGH PRODUCTION MAINTAINED.

RETURNS FOR JANUARY.

The high figures ior the production of butter-fat in the Auckland province, which have so far characterised the 1930-31 season, were mainfniried during January. The returns for the season 'to January 31 work out at approximately 9 per cent, abovo those for the corresponding period of last year. , The following table' shows the details of production of butter and cheese in the Auckland province in terms of butter-fat for the first seven months of the current dairying year, (ompared with those 'Of tho corresponding periods of the preceding season:— 1930-31. 1929-30. lb. lb. Total . t 91,930,000 81,850,000 The season opened quietly in July, the returns being slightly above those of the same month in the 1929-30 season. In August there was an increase, compared with the previous August. Production for September, 1930, showed a marked increase, the month's output being 11,029,0001b. of butter-fat, compared with 8,696,0001b. iri September, 1929. In October and November tho production was higher than in the corresponding months of 1929. Another marked increase was shown in December, as compared with the previous December, tho figures being 21,362,0001b. and 19,454,0001b. respectively. During January of this year the production tended to decline, but it was still abovo that of January, 1930, the figures being 17,864,0001b. and 17,721,0001b. respectively. Prior'to January, the percentage increase had been about 10 per cent.
