STATE LOTTERY SCHEME.
MONEY FOR HOSPITALS. KEEN INTEREST IN SYDNEY. All being ready for the great lottery to be conducted by tho Government of NewSouth Wales, the preliminary advertising will soon be issued. The State and Church appeal on behalf of the hospitals has failed to collect subscriptions equal to tha expense incurred so far, says a Sydney correspondent. The Government has hinted that the fruitless quest for money had better be abandoned so that publicity for the lottery may begin. Delay is considered to be dangerous in view of the fact that the Australian syndicate which is conducting a world-wide lottery in Europe will soon be asking Australians to invest their money. The talk of appointing Mr. \Yhiddon, late New South Wales commissioner of taxation, to conduct the lottery, notwUnstanding the fact that he retirod ro the service because he lnul exceeds ago limit, continues.
