Arrangements were made for a concert and dance in aid of the campaign funds at Maungaturoto. The auxiliary now numbers 97 members, and active efforts are being made to augment the membership. Circulars setting out the Reform Party's platform on various issues, side by side with that of the Country Party, were distributed, and Mr. F. Cullen, of Maungaturoto, gave a very interesting comparison between the announced policies. Mr. Robertson, Reform organiser, also spoke on the tariff question. The address was most instructive and at its conclusion afternoon tea was served.
The next meeting of the branch will bo held at Maungaturoto, when it is hoped to arrango for Mesdames J. G. Coates and A. E. Harding to give addresses.
At a previous meeting of the auxiliary at Ruawai a sum of £5 was subscribed in the room for earthquake relief, and a subsequent canvass increased the amount to £l6 10s. The sum was forwarded to the president of the Hawke's Bay auxiliary, Airs. Herrick, of Hastings, for immediate relief purposes. A reply from Airs. Herrick, expressing thanks for the contribution, was received. She also stated that further help in the way of children's clothing would be useful, as thero were still many in need of assistance. The appeal was discussed, and it was left to each district to take what action it could. At Alatakolie a social gathering is projected to raise funds to purchase material for making up by local ladies on behalf of tho sufferers.
