NORTHCOTE BOROUGH.
HIGHWAYS SUBSIDY.
The Northcote Borough Council met last evening, the Maypr, Mr. A. E._ Greenslade, presiding.
In reply to the representations made by tho council for an increased subsidy for paving Onewa and Lake Roads V* cloncrete, the chairman of. the No. 1 District Highways Council, Mr. J. McEnnis, advised that the Main Highways Board regretted that it was unable to make any increase in tho rate of subsidy, which was pounS for pound.
Tho waterworks engineer reported that 3,646,500 gallons of water had been used during the past month. The surface of Lake Pupuko was one foot below high tide mark, or five inches lower than a month ago. - . _ Tho district electors' list contains 1545 names, and a supplementary roll is to be prepared. for a reduction of water charges to consumers in portion of th» Takapuna borough was declined.
