OBITUARY.
SIRS. WILLIAM EDGERLEY. The death of Mrs. William Edgerley, of Edgerley Avenuo, Epsom, has occurred at the ago of 67 years. The late Mrs. Edgerley was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hannaford, of Torquay, England, and was borr) in Ballarat, Australia. At the ago of 12, after the death of her father, she went with her mother to reside in Fiji. Six years later she came to Auckland and married Mr. William Edgerley, the second soi) of one of tho earliest Auckland settlers. Since then she had resided for more than 40 years at Epsom. For many years she took a very active interest in church work. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Mr. W. W. Edgerley, New Lynn, Mr. J. H. Edgerley, Streamlands, and Mr. C. H. Edgerley, and four daughters, Mrs. W. McCallum, Miss 11. G. Edgerley, Miss K. V. Edgerley and Miss W. G. Edgerley. There are six grandchildren. MRS. MARIAN FRENCH. The death of Mrs. Marian French, of Belmont Terrace, Reinuera, occurred on Monday after a long illness. Mrs. French, who was 82 years of age, was the widow of the lato Mr. Robert French, a prominent worker for social and temperance reform, especially in tho earlier years of tho city. Tho late Mrs. French arrived at Auckland with her parents on tho ship Devonshire in 1863, and with the exception of a short poriod in Thames, had lived in Auckland continuously. Tho family lived in the first house to be built on the southern side of Karangaliape Road, and it could be reached only by a path through the manuka scrub which covered what is now Upper Queen Street. Mrs. French, who was married in 1870, leaves a family of four sons and two daughters. The oldest son, Mr. W. J. French, of Sail Francisco, is president of the Industrial Accident Commission for the State of California. Other children are Mr. H. R. French, of Hastings, Mr. C. A. French, of Remnera, Mr. A. French, of Rotorua, and Mrs. A. J. Stallworthy, of Epsom, and Miss L. French, of Remuera.
