LAND FOR FARMING.
OLD TOWNSHIP OF PIRONGIA. CONVERTING UNUSED SECTIONS. [froji our own correspondent. ] TE AWAMUTU, Tueeday. A further step in the long and involved task of converting about 400 acres of land in the old township of Pirongia, originally known as Alexandra, was taken at a meeting of the Waipa County Council yesterday, when two settlers representing the Pirongia landowners concerned in the negotiations with the Crown Lands Department for acquiring the abandoned sections and the many " paper" roads, presented a map to indicate which sections and portions of road abutting thereon should he made available to the nearest adjoining landowner. It, was stated that the Land Board has adjusted the. allocation of the sections to the satisfaction of all, by resuming them and then selling them on deferred payments. The settlers had come to agreement also respecting the unused roads, and these were to be similarly dealt with by the Land Board provided the County Council agreed. The council voiced agreement with the proceedings and appointed two members, with the clerk and engineer, to confer on the ground with the settlers' committee.
