NEW GOLF CLUB.
NORTH SHORE ENTHUSIASTS.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS. A definite decision to establish a new golf club at the North Shore, to be known as the North Shore Golf Club, was made at a well-attended meeting held in the Takapuna Parish Hall last evening, when the report of the Provisional Committee was received.
Mr. N. S. Chalmers, who presided, said the acting committee had negotiated a reduction of £2OOO on the proposed purchase price of £BOOO for the block of 138 acres, situated oil the main Northcote Road, about a mile and a-quarter from the Takapuna pest office. The following officers were elected: — Patrons, the Mayors of Takapuna, Devonport, Birkenhead and Northcote, and the member of Parliament for the district; president, Mr. .N. S. Chalmers; vicepresident, Dr. J. W. Craven; captain, Mr. W. H. Chambers; auditor, Mr. A. M. Seaman; committee, Messrs. A. W. Short, R. A. Spinley, M. L. Wilkins, H. W. Bennett and 11. Duder.
Over 150 applications for membership were received during the evening.
