FREE RAILWAY PASSES.
NEW SOUTH WALES LIST.
A return has been prepared by the New South Wales Railway Commissioners showing the number of annual free passes issued on the State lines. In addition to the passes issued by the department to its own officials, there are 81 passes held by outside persons. These include foreign consuls and representatives of oversea business interests, ministers of religion, secretaries of racing clubs, officials of privately-owned railways and tramways, directors of park trusts, and of the 'Botanic Gardens and officials of certain coal and shipping companies. It was explained" by tlie department that these passes had been issued for many years.
