FRENCH CAUSE PRESENTED.
COMPARISON OF FIGURES. Times Cable. LONDON, Feb. 23. The Paris correspondent of the Times says the report on the military estimates submitted to the Chamber of Deputies envisages the Disarmament Commission's discussions, and presents the French cause in the most favourable light.
The home Army vote is shown as £38,000,000, and the overseas vote as £13,000,000, in the aggregate £600,000 more than last year. Tlie expenditure, it is alleged lias decreased by 10 per cent, since 1914. The expenditure by the United States increased 86 per cent., and by Japan 48 per cent. Britain's expenditure decreased by 1 per cent, that of Italy by 14 per cent.
Franco compares her 552,000 men at home and overseas with Britain's 510,000 regulars, 277,000 militia, and 43,000 in overseas formations. Italy has 303,000 regulars and 110,000 police and militia, Germany 100,000 regulars and 150,000 security police.
