SYDNEY GAS CHARGES.
AMENDMENT TO ACT
LOWER PRICE EXPECTED
SYDNEY. Feb. 24. Mr. Justice Davidson, who sat as a Royal Commissioner, having reported that the prices at present charged for gas in Sydney were not in excess of the amount required to pay tho statutory dividends, the Minister of Mines, Mr. J. M. Baddelcy, announces that a bill will be introduced to amend the Gas Act, and remove tho right to a fixed dividend of 8 per cent. The effect is expected to be a reduction in the price of gas.
