FLOODED RIVER.

CURIOUS DARWIN WEATHER
(Received February 24. 9.5 p.m.) DARWIN, Feb. 24
It is reported that the Roper River flooded unexpectedly on Saturday, tho water rising 4ft. in the police station, whence all the gear had to be removed. No news about the Roper River mission station has been received for some days past. Darwin and the vicinity are overhung with h'aze, probably volcanic dust. The sunlight is very dim. Rain is reported from up country, but the farmers fear the already protracted dry spell means the loss of crops.
