An abortive attempt was made to rvreek,a mail train carrying shearers near Barealdine. Fishplate bolts were removed and dog spikes drawn. Shearing is in full swing at Longreach and Barcaldine, and the strike has been declared off in the Blackall and Cunna- ■ mulla districts.
