ELLERSLIE TRAINING.

TE AROHA CANDIDATES WORK

GOLD MONEY'S GOOD MILE.

EAGER ROSE AND CYNTHIA N

The weather was cold and showery while training operations were in progress, at Ellerslie yesterday, but the? tracks were in beautiful order after the rain, although a shado slower after the breakfast interval than earlier. The principal interest was provided by horses with engagements at the To Aroha meeting, and somo good gallops were recorded, Gold Money's mile in 1.42 4-5 on the course proper being outstanding from a time point of view. The majority of the most important work was accmplished cn the course proper,' where the flags were out 30ft., and the remainder on the No. 2 grass. On the course proper Gold Money, lightlyweighted. went in dashing stylo over a mile in 1.42 4-5. She went very fnst from the seven furlongs to the three furlongs post, running the half-mile in 48 3-5, and continued on strongly until the last furlong, when she began to tire. .Gold Money's gallop was a good one, in spite of the fact that she had little on her back, and it demonstrated that she is in great heart to tacklo the Herries Memorial Cup. Royal Survey Pleases.

Three novice candidates for Te Aroha, Royal Survey (stable boy), Howick (Watson) and Click Clack (Parsons), were associated in a soundly-run gallop over seven furlongs in 1.33 1-5. They kept well together over the first half-mile in '49 3-ss, but Royal Survey drew out in the straight to finish two lengths clear of Howick, with Click Clack another length away. Royal Survey would be carrying over 8.0, and his effort was a pleasing one, as be finished on Btrongly. Rafflight (Chaplin) and Praetor (McTavish) ran their firsl two furlongs in 24 3-5s and completed five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Rafflight, who has been doing his work well, was on the outside and was going the easier at the finish. The three-year-old is better now than at any time previously. Eager Roso (Fergus) had no difficulty in beating Cynthia N. (Parsons) over a mile in 1.45 3-5, the first half-mile occupying 51 3-5s and the second half 545. Eager Rose was running on strongly at the end and, although her time was a good deal slower than Gold Mc/ney'a, the gallop was a pleasing one by reason of the fact that she did it really well. Cynthia N. also hit out well, and she should not be without prospects in her Te Aroha engagements.

Tatyoon and United.

Tatyoon (McTavish) and United (L. Manflon) were well clear of Lotcrie (Chaplin) after running four furlongs from a standing start in 51 3-ss. Tatyoon and United were kept up to their work at the finish, but Tatyoon went well for a youngster who is a good way from being at his beßt yet. Titanette, who appears to have benefited by her racing at Rotorua, easily beat Dark Marble over four furlongs in 52 l-ss. Dark Marble did not go as well as usual, but is in* good order to make his debut at Te Aroha on Saturday. Kouranui (Chaplin) and Patutahi (Cammick) were clear of Spring Abbey at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Kouranui is steadily improving, and Patutahi has never been better. Spring Abbey worked in his usual lazy style, but he is very well, and may get a stake for J. Chisholm at the autumn meetings.

On the No. 2 grass Corinax went steadily over a round without being at top at any stage. Corinax's tasks have not been of a severe, nature since he raced at Takapuna, and he is just doing enough to keep him in healthy condition. It is unlikely that he will do much racing before the autumn meeting at Ellerslie, although he is engaged at both Pukekohe and Paeroa. Puriri Park and Manawhenua were associated in a sound gallop over six furlongs in 1.17 2-5. They were well together all the way and were both hanging on well at the finish. It should not bo for lack of condition if theso hacks fail to show some form at Te Aroha, for they have both done well lately. Sir Mond'a Eflort.

Sir Mond and Gold Lily covered a round in 1.45 4-5, and they were on terms at the finish, with Sir Mond finishing the stronger. Sir Mond appears none the worse for his three races at Rotorua, and may again show up at To Arolia. Merry Lu, who is progressing nicely under the care of F. Gilchrist, sprinted four furlongs in 50 2-ss, and Katarina went five furlongs in 1.8 2-5. a King Swift and Billy Boy were galloped once round, and they were together until the last furlong, when King Swift drew away to finish clear in 1.48.

Hannibal was not asked for his best while running six furlongs in 1.20 3-5. Ho went very evenly all the way, and is doing well for W. J. Hawkins.

Catoma was not extended to run six furlongs in 1.26 4-5, and Werata completed a useful task with four furlongs in 55 3-ss. Desert Star and Brown Prince wore not bustled to run six furlongs in 1.21 3-5. These novices are both showing improved condition, and will be ready for a race soon. Lost Comet (Craddock) outjumped Bizarro (Garrett) at every fence in a bout over six hurdles. Lost Comet gave a fine exhibition, but Bizarro shaped indifferently, and nearly fell at the last fence.

PINK COAT IN WORK.

HOPE OF RACING AGAIN.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] DUNEDIN, Tuesday.

The Hunting Song horse Pink Coat is again in work. He had a light season at the stud followed by road exercise. Pink Coat recently got through a useful working gallop and pulled up sound and well. It is to be hoped he survive* another preparation as he was one of tho best three-year-olds ever seen in this country.
