UNEMPLOYMENT RELIEF.
Sir, —Exactly the same thing that " Fair Go " has complained about in reference to the above question is taking place in the Kumeu riding of the Waitemata County Council. Hero we have wellknown farmers drawing relief pay even though they have occupied their present farms for some years. When I paid my levy to the unemployment fund I was under- the impression that it would be used to relieve the distress of the genuine unemployed, not to provide a luxury wage for farmers who milk fairly large herds with milking machines. If these, farmers come within the meaning of the Unemployment Act then to my mind the sooner the Act is revised the better it will be for everyone. If they do not then I consider that not only should these farmers be compelled to refund all relief pay received, but the Waitemata County Council should be asked to explain how these farmers came to be classed as unemployed when the riding member personally knows all local relief workers and their usual occupations. Fair Go Mo. 2.
