A GARDEN PARTY.

DISTINGUISHED VISITORS. A DAY OF SUNSHINE. A most enjoyable garden party in honour of the visit of the Chief Scout, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, and Lady Baden-Powell, Chief Girl Guide, was given yesterday afternoon by Mrs. W. R. Wilson, Dominion Girl Guide Commissioner, at her beautiful home, St. Leonard's, Takapuna. No fairer day could have dawned for such an important and happy occasion and the large number of guests who attended were full of admiration for the beautiful setting. The shady, spreading branches of tlio trees and the brilliantlycoloured flowers, the winding paths that brought ono lo unexpected, exquisite peeps of the Waitemata that lay in the distanco like a huge, scintillating jewel,evoked from .-.the guests exclamations of sheer delight. After all the disappointing cftiys and weeks that have passed, one sensed the beauty of the day as a happy omen for the continued success of the Girl Guide movement. Many beautiful toilettes were worn, some of vivid hue, others in delicate pastel shades, and brightly-coloured sunshades were accessories that added to the charm of the sconc.

Tea was served from small tables in a marquee on the lawn and delightful musical selections were given by an orchestra under the leadership of Mr. Harold Baxter. The guests were received by Mr. and Mrs. Wilson in the garden, assisted by Miss Betty Wilson. Mrs. Wilson woro a draped frock of black fische net and a wide brimmed hat of black lace straw; Miss Betty Wilson wore a frock of almond green crepo do chine with a flared skirt and a cinnamon Ballibuntal bat bound with green corded ribbon, and Lady Baden-Powell wore beigo silk lace with georgette vest and a small beige coloured hat with a felt crown and a brim of straw.
