ASSAULT AND ROBBERY.

MAN KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. BAG CONTAINING £SB STOLEN. Two men, who were strangers to him, had been in the restaurant on two different, occasions and had remained there for some time. lie left shortly after one o'clock, and crossing Queen Street, hailed a taxicab which was travelling up the road. As he was getting in, he was joined in conversation by the other men, the upshot being that they entered the taxicab with him. When Mr. Baird reached his home, the men also alighted, and after .Mr. Baird had paid the driver the taxicab left. Shortly afterward, as the men were saying farewell to Mr. Baird, they assaulted him.
