THE BANKING TURNOVER. HEAVY FALL IN THE YEAR. LONDON, Jan. 1. An illustration of the acute depression and the reduction in bulk in both wholesale and retail trade is seen in the statement of the London Bankers' Clearing House. In 1930 the turnover was £1,338,000,000 below that of 1929, although the first half of the year showed a comparative increase of £206,000,000.
