LONDON NAVAL TREATY.
proclamation by hoover. A GESTURE OF PEACE. (Received January 2, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. Jan. 1. As a gesture of peace throughout the New Year, the President, Dir. Hoover, to-day proclaimed the London Naval Treaty to be in effect for the United States. The proclamation cited the effectiveness of the five-Power Pact, and called attention to its provisions as linking the British Empire, Japan, Italy, France and the United States in bonds of goodwill.
