LATE PLANTINGS.

Late-planted potatoes, onions and other crops subject to disease should bo occasionally sprayed. The digging of potatoes that are ready for lifting should in no case bo neglected, as at this time the tubers remain but a short time inactive when left in the soil, and soon start again into growth. As soon as conditions are favourable, further sowing should be made of peas, beans, carrots, parsnips, leeks, spinach, garden swedes, beet, lettuce, cabbage, cauliflower and other colworts.

The success attained in the cultivation of crops, especially during the summer, depends so much upon the condition of the soil and the treatment given, that it is only in proportion to the food 6upply in the soil that the crops can be produced. The deeper the ground has been workod and manured the belter chance crops have to succeed. Cauliflower broccoli., Brussel sprouts, savoy and other cabbages especially, should bo planted in well-prepared ground.
