RUG TO FIT THE FENDER.

When rugmaking at homo it is sometimes desired tc make a rug to fit an irregular shape, such as round tho fender, or to fit an alcove. This is riot so difficult as at first appears. Measure carefully the space to. be filled and make a paper pattern to fit exactly. Lay the pattern on the canvas and mark out the shape with ink, but do not cut the canvas until the rug lias been worked. When the shape has been filled with wool, the surplus canvas can bo cut away to within about two inches; the rest should then be turned under and bound with strong webbing. No difficulty .will be experienced with outside angles, tho canvas being folded over and tacked down, then tho webbing folded over and pressed But at tho inside corners the canvas will have to bo cut digonally to the corner. This will be tho weakest part and care should be taken to mako this as strong as possible by sewing tho webbing securely to the rug, taking it past the corner for some distanco as a strengthened
