CHRISTMAS CHEER FUND.

A SPLENDID RESPONSE. Many, many thanks to you all, friends and members of tho Brigade, who have orico again most gallantly responded to our S.O.S. on behalf of tho orphans, tho sick, the poor and tho aged! Our Christmas effort has brought in a total of £24, a most generous response, con. sidering that times aro hard, and that Christmas brings so many ci.lls. What pleases mo most of all is tho way in which our members and friends uphold tho splendid reputation of tho Brigade, year after year—no matter how high the objective, it is invariably reached, and then exceeded! I know you will bo glad and proud to learn that since last Christmas a sum of £l5O has been subscribed by the readers of this page, for various good purposes, which I am ' quite certain is a record for any children's page in New Zealand; In addition to our Christmas Cheer fluid, and the fine gift of a doll's house to the orphans, many pretty little gifts of furnishing and equipment, have been made for the latter, and another very important effort has been the donation of no less limn fifty beautiful : .scrapbooks to the boys and girls in the Children's Hospital. To my own personal thanks, I now add those of tho Matron ci the Papatoetoo Orphan Home, the St. John nurses, tho , orphans and sick children, and the old folk, who have been . provided with Christmas comforts.
