CORPORAL LOSES STRIPES.
Corporal William W. Blackniorc, of the Royal Engineers, was sentenced by an Ald'ershot, court-martial, lately to be reduced to the ranks for showing undue familiarity toward the men under him, by playing cards for money with thorn in the barrack-room. Blnckmore admitted at the trial that lie was playing " brag " with three other men, but it was urged by his counsel that the quiot game of cards was not a breach of discipline and was no worse than taking part in the weekly football sweepstakes, which were held in the unit.
