ELDERLY MAN'S DEATH.
ESTATE OF £2900 LEFT. VERDICT AT THE INQUEST. The inquest into the death of Thomas George, aged 67, who died at his lodgings in Vincent Street, City, on December 23, was concluded yesterday by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., who returned a verdict of death from heart failure following a dose of corrosive poison. When the inquest was opened, it was stated that deceased had in his possession securities and bank accounts worth £2900. His will was made in favour of a sister in England and a brother in Queensland. Evidence was given by the landlady that deceased, who had lived at her house for six months, was understood to be a retired dealer from Queensland. The report of a post mortem examination, ordered by the coroner, was available yesterday, and the coroner then returned his verdict, stating that there was no evidence to show whether the poison had been accidentally taken or self-administered. ,
