POWER STATION PLANT.

FIRST PART OF EQUIPMENT. V ARRIVAL FROM ENGLAND. ! Tho first shipment of equipment which will be used in tho extension of tho King's Wharf power station arrived!by tho Rangitiki last week and is being installed by a representative of the manufacturers, Messrs. Eraser and Chalmers, of England. Tho shipment comprises a turbino condenser, weighing 212 tons, and tubing for tho condensor. j

Tho condenser will bo placed in j tho foundation work at tho station, ijhere will be 7800 tubes- in tho shell when |:onv pleted and tho total weight will theri bo about 47 tons. Tho condenser will be capable of dealing with 130,0001 bj of steam an hour anil for this 12,300 gallons of harbour water a minute will bo \ required.

It is expected that all the new machinery required for the extensions will arrive during the present month. The steelwork for the building is now well under way and provision is bising made for'the placing in position of the new machinery.
