DR. A. MACDONELL.

British Wireless. RUGBY, Dec. 29. The death has occurred of Dr. Arthur Macdonoll, a great Sanskrit scholar, and Emeritus Professor of Sanskrit in the University of Oxford. He was 76 years old.
Dr. Arthur Antony Macdonell was born in 1854, and was educated at Gottingen and Oxford Universities. He was for some years Taylorian Teacher of Gorman and deputy Professor of Sanskrit at Oxford. Among his numerous books are a Sanskrit English Dictionary, a History of Sanskrit Literature and a Sanskrit Gram mar and editions of the Vodic and Hindu classics. Dr. Macdonell was a member of many foreign academies.
