TWO NEW AIRWOMEN.

YOUNGEST LADY PILOT.

SOLO AT EIGHTEEN YEARS

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday.

Two lady members of the Western Federated Aero Clubs flew solo for the first time yesterday at the Bell Block aerodrome. They were Misses Edna Hicks, of Tikorangi, and Jane Winstone, of Wanganui. Thirty pupils of the club have now had solo fllying experience. Miss Hicks flew solo after only 6J hours' dual flying experience. Miss Winstone is probably the youngest lady pilot in New Zealand, being only 18 years of age.

Both airwomen carried out their test flights splendidly, according to the instructor, Flying-Officer lan Keith.
