MERRY DAMON'S CUP CHANCE,

. The Marton Jockey Club's Summer Meeting opens to-morrow. The principal race is tile Marion Cup for which the topweipht, Merry JJamon, is well fancied. Following nro the fields:—

The Marton meeting has drawn good horses and fields, and there should be tome interesting racing. Manawntu form looks likely to be worth following. The following horses _ may run well in tbeir engagements:—Trial Plate: Wallaruh and Black Duchess. First Hack Hurdles: Brilliant Light and Royal Damon. Juvenile Handicap: Tray Bond and Sporting Chance. Marton Cup: Merry .Damon and Rnanui. Dash Handicap: Adolphi and Leisure. . Railway Handicap: Freehold and Arisus. New Year Handicap: Grand Jury and Tunbridge. Stewards' Handicap: Rational 11. and Cushier.

NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK WORK.

Tho New Plymouth track was in good order for tho final trials for Slrutford this morning. Arvada galloped half a mile on the plough in 51 l-ss. Latakia went well over five furlongs on the plough in J. 4. Melissa, who looks very well, went once round ut three-duarter pace. She will take her place in the cup field. Sparkling Morn and Cornerman dashed over two furlongs in 245. Marjoram took 1.38 for seven furlongs. He did the first half-mile in 535, bjti was then eased over the Inst three. The Swell and Evening Hero did an easy mile on the plough in 1.54, tho last five furlongs .taking 1.0. Manly and Crennatown took 1.4J for five furlongs, both going well. Gold Dawn, under a strong pull all the way, ran half n mile in 555.
