THE SALVATION ARMY.

Sir, —I read a letter signed " Peace" complaining that the Salvation Army disturbed his rest on Christmas morning. Whether man or woman (I expect man) I blush for " Peace" to think he or she should be so mean and paltry. I wonder has " Peace" ever stopped to think of the real good the Salvation Army Band does for the public. How their workers tramp hours daily all tho year to help others. Has "Peace" ever.stood a day or so before Christmas outside the Congress Hall as T did on December 23 and watched the eager faces waiting their turn to go in and receive their Christmas parcels? The joy on their faces as they come out! I went and 3aw for myself 500 families receive vegetables, grocery, cake and lovely joint, etc., each, and a cheery word of greeting everyone. If they did not go round beating their drums and blowing their trumpets a good many more families would go without dinners at' Christmas (also otheir times) that are helped by the Salvation Arsny. I, too, have to get up early each day and have no time to indulge in bedlaying. lam not a Salvationist; in fact, if any member of the Salvation Army were to meet me, they would not know me from Adam, but I do honour and admire them for the good they do. As to ringing the door bell, " Peace" should bear in mind, that he may not always be lucky enough to be a worker with Christmas for his only leisure time, and he may be glad for the Salvation Army to ring someone else's door bell on his behalf.
