WATER AND ROAD WORKS. CELEBRATION FUNCTION. JV. Arrangements to celebrate the installation of a water supply system for Howick and the opening of the new concrete highway in the district were con- • sidcred at a meeting of residents on Tuesday evening. Mr. («. Bell, chairman of the Howiclc Town Board, who presided, leferrcd to the recommendation from the board that the residents should have an opportunity of showing their appreciation of the important benefits secured for the district. .Mr. A. Cherry paid a tribute | ( > those who had' been responsible for bringing about the improvements and said ho thought that fitting recognition should bo made. The following committee was set up to arrange, a suitable programme for a function to be held toward the end of .January:—Mesdames Amiss, Mcftmes, J)evereau, and Hughes, and Messrs, 8011, Crawford, Cherry, Hallett, Edwards, Litten, Green.
