IMPORTED JERSEY SALE.

HIGH PRICES REALISED. AVERAGE MORE THAN £324. [by telegraph.—own CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. The sale of a magnificent line of 19 head of pedigree Jersey stock, specially imported from the Island of Jersey for New Zealand breeders by Mr. T. S. Cooper, of Lindon Grove, United, States, was conducted by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., at Claudelands to-day, and attracted a large crowd of breeders from all parts of the North Island.

The animals were selected by Mr. T. Ilghman, Mr. S. Cooper, Mr. H. P. 'loose, of Wright, Stephenson and Company, Ltd., Wellington, and Mr. J. A. Perre'e, of Jersey, at the beginning of this year. Owing to the New Zealand stock regulations they could not be imported direct to New Zealand, their intended destination, but had to spend six months, in America. They were thus brought to New Zealand as American stock. It was mentioned at the sale to-day that the animals cost £lB9 per head to import. The whole of t,he 19 head of bulls, cows and heifers were sold at a price aggregating 5265gn5., and averaging 309£gns. • The bulls averaged 384gns. and the cows and heifers 243jgns. The highest-priced bull, Roseland .Pioneer, was bought by Mr. W. If. Miers, of Rototuna, Hamilton, while the best price realised for the females, 360gns.,,was paid by the agen's for a Taranaki breeder. A feature of the sale was the spirited bidding for several of this year's heifers, one of which was bought at : 250gns.. by Mr. E. J. Kirkwood, of Stratford. "In view of the low prices prevailing for butter-fat and the condition' of the stock the prices realised were regarded as satisfactory.
