Sentences of imprisonment aggregating more than 14,000 years had been imposed on violators of the Volstead Act. A total of 567 charges of corruption against prohibition enforcement officials bad been investigated. In a very largo proportion of the cases the charges cither had been absolutely disproved or dropped for lack of evidence. Two million gallons of whisky had legally been manufactured for medicinal purposes.
