A FIRM TONE REPORTED.

A further rise in the London butter market of 2s per cwt. is reported in the cablegrams received by Auckland merchants over the past , J!4 hours. The cheese market t also shows an improvement of 2s per cwt.

Joseph Nathan and Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London house, dated December B:—Butter, 107s to 108s'; the market is firm. Cheese, white 625.; coloured, 59s to 60s; the market is steady. Dalgety and Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram from Samuel Pago and Son. London, under date December B:—Butter prices are 2s dearer. New Zealand finest salted now 102s to 108s. Cheese prices are 2s dearer. New Zealand white now 61s to 635; New Zealand coloured now 59s to 61s.
