WOMEN'S DIVISION.

FARMERS' UNION.

The monthly meeting of/ Ihc op'6tiki branch of the women's division of the Farmers' Union was held last week, Mrs. A. E. Martin presiding over a good attendance. The following resolutions were discussed, and passed:—ln view of the low prices farmers are receiving their produce this branch emphatically'protests against the unemployment levy; in view ot the fact that a great amount of the unemployment levy will be raised in country districts, this branch is of opinion that all money should be spent in the district in which it is raised; that wages shoidd be reduced from 14s per day to 12s or less. After business was over Mrs.. P. Jennings gave a demonstration of both, pretty and useful wool work done with a sugarbag. A competition given by Mrs. Dodgson was won by Mrs. Jennings, Afternoon tea was served by members. and a vote of thanks passed to Mrs. Jennings for her demonstration.
