PAYMENT OF MEMBERS.
A REDUCTION SUGGESTED. VIEW OF HOME GOVERNMENT. LONDON. Dec. 4. Mr. W. L. Everard, Conservative member for Melton, Leicestershire, inquired in the House of Commons whether in the interests of economy and in order to set an example to the country, the Government would appoint a select committee to inquire into a reduction of 12 5 per cent, in members' salaries. The Prime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, replied that the salaries were fixed in 1911, and could not be regarded as more than adequate.
