ASHBURTON MEETING.

PROGRAMME FOR TO-DAY. ONLY THREE IN CHIEF RACE. REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS. The Ashburton County Racing Club's Summer Meeting will be held to-day. Except in the Tinwald Handicap, in which there is a field of only three, the races have filled well, particularly the Laghmor Plate and the two trotting events. The weather in the district has been lino for the past week, and the going promises to be fast. Following are the acceptances, with a review of the prospects in each race by our Canterbury correspondent:—

Botb have reeled oil some attractive gallops lately, and Painkiller was responsible for a striking effort on Thursday. Giggleswick. Flair. Proud Knight, Coll and Shatter are all entitled to consideration, the first-named especially making a strong appeal. The final issue may bo confined to PAINKILLER. GIGGLESWICK. LORD THOMOND.
