A CAMPHOR PROPELLOR.
A piece of camphor will do most amusing things on water, but the water must be free from grease. Wash a basin and a knife with warm' water and soda. Then rinse them well bv letting water from the tap run into the basin and ovor the knife for some time. Do not use a cloth to dry them. Then fill the basin with clean water.
Cut off small pieces of camphor and throw them on the water. They dash about in an amazing way. A tiny boat may be made by twisting a thin piece of tin (the inner covers of cigarette tins provide tin of the proper thickness). At the back of tho little boat put a flat piece of camphor. The boat will then go sailing round on tho basin of water.
Tho camphor slowly dissolves in the water and lowers the surface pull at the back of the boat. Tho» greater pull of tho water in front draws the boat along. —From lan Allan, Tost Office Res., Cam -bridge.
