EPSOM CROQUET CLUB.
The official opening of tho now lawns acquired by tlie Epsom Croquet Club took place on Thursday afternoon, tho ceremony lining performed l\v Mr. J. T5. Paterson, chairman of the Parks Committee. Mr. Paterson congratulated tho ladies on tho excellent result of their industry and enterprise, as shown in the new pavilion, which was gaily decorated for the evening with flags. The material for the erection of tho building was found and paid for by the members, and on their behalf Mr. Paterson called for a volo of thanks to the gentlemen who had given their time and labour to achieve (lie splendid result. Mrs. McGregor, president of tho club, responded and presented Mrs. Paterson uiili a bouquet in tho club colours. Play fur the- season commenced on Saturday, when sorno most cnjoyablo games were held.
