IMPROVED STREETS.
CITY COUNCIL ACTIVITY.
WORK DONE IN PARNELL.
The resurfacing of several important streets in Parnell is now beinp; undertaken by the City Council staff out of the residue of money in the supplementary loan incidental to tho £710,000 street improvements loan. Already Gladstone Road, from the intersection with St. Stephen's Avenue to Parnell Park, connecting with tho new work leading to the Strand, has been attended to and tho plant had now been shifted to St. Stephen's Avenue, which is to be resurfaced front the Gladstone Road intersection to the top of tho rise at Manukau Road. Already the whole length of Brighton Road, a neighbouring thoroughfare giving convenient access to the lower slopes of Rernuera, lias been similarly treated. The whole of this work is in conformity with similar improvements recently mado to secondary streets in various suburbs called on to carry considerable traffic. From the same resources the work of concreting Myers and Fergusson Streets, in the Civic Centre block, is to be undertaken almost immediately. Improvements are also to be made to Green Lano between its intersections with tho Great South Road and Ascot Avenue.
