ROTORUA NOTES.

BRIDGE PARTY. A bridge party was given by Mrs. I*. C. Bunyard at her residence, Amohia Street, on Friday. Tlie room was gay with Iceland poppies, geunis and gerberas. Progressive bridge was played, 1)10 winners being Mrs. R. Griffiths and Mrs. Moorhouse. Among those present were:—

Mrs. F. Wilkie, Mrs. W. Hill, Mrs. Moorhouse, Mrs. R. Griffiths, Mrs. La Trobo Kill, Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, Mrs. Wnllls, Mrs. Goudie, Mrs.. Ryder, Miss Searcll, Miss Macpherson. The hostess wore a frock of black georgette and lace, with a floral bridge coat. Play-reading. The plav-reading circle of the Rotorna Women's Club entertained the patients of the Government sanatorium last Friday evening. A play entitled "Eliza Comes to Stay" was read by the following members:—Mrs. Randerson, Mrs. Walsh, Mrs. Davys, Airs. Wallis, Mrs. Keane, Miss Macticr, Miss Jean Tearce, Miss Joan Hodgson. Supper was provided by members of the Women's Club, after which a hearty vole of thanks was proposed by 0110 of the patients for a most enjoyable evening's entertainment. Surprise Party. On Saturday evening the friends of .Miss Violet Steele visited her with a surprise party to welcome her home from her trip to Canada and the United States. The rooms were most attractive with large bowls of snowballs and vases of stock. Progressive bridge and five hundred were played. The following were the winners: —Bridge, Miss Jean Pearce, Mr. Ackroyd; live hundred, Mrs. Steele. Among those present were:—Mrs. Dannefaerd, Miss Moore, Miss M. Dannefaerd, Miss 11. Daimefaerd, Miss McKenzie, Miss Cooney, Miss Hall, Miss V. Holland, Miss Campbell, Miss Foote, Miss Pearce, Miss J. Giesen, Miss French. Tho hostess, Mrs. Steele, wore a frock of midnight blue floral satin beaute and Miss Violet Steele was in a frock of figured silk ninon.
