ELLERSLIE TRAINING.

MANY USEFUL GALLOPS.

OPERATIC SPRINTS SMARTLY. TUI MINT ON THE IMPROVE. Training operations at Ellerslie yesterday were carried out in fine weather, the fast work being done 011 the No. 'J grass, whero the flags Were out sft. The track provided good going, although not fast, and some useful efforts were registered. Trace and Tui Mint were associated over six furlongs in 1.'22 3-5. These novices aro both on the upgrade, Tui Mint especially having made good progress lately.

Patutahi negotiated a circuit in 1.49 1-5, running the last six furlongs in 1.23. A. Kemp's charge has been working with more dash lately, although he will have to bo carefully placed to get 011 the winning list. Ivairuri defeated Catulun by several lengths over a round in 1.48, the last six furlongs being run in 1.22 2-5. Kairuri is coming 011 quickly and appears to be a horso who docs not require a severe preparation. Great Emblem, Hampton Park and Art Gallery wero together at the conclusion of five furlongs in I.G C-5. Great Emblem has brightened up in the past few weeks and may now continue to make steady procress. Specdfast infused plenty of vim into a three-furlongs sprint in 38s. This youngster's latest gallops have been encouraging, and. although he is 011 the small side, he is not without prospects. Sir Mond and Land Measure. Sir Mond pleased better than Land Measure over live furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Sir Mond is a gross custonior who thrives on work and racing, and seeni3 all the better for his three races at Whangarci.

Royal Menu went in good stylo over fivo furlongs in 1.5 3 5 and Good Idea ran tho 6amo distanco comfortably in 1.8 1-5. Royal Menu has a good turn of speed, but is not very robust, and has to bo handled carefully.

Brampton's task was an easy six furlongs in 1.26 4-5 and Tambourine was not bustled to run four furlongs in 55 l-ss.

Operatic was first out after the breakfast interval, when the going was faster than previously, and he dashed over four furlongs in 49 3-ss. Operatic has been galloping in improved style and may show some form tho first time he strikes n dry track. Loterie showed more dash than Moonfleet while running four furlongs in 52 3-ss. Loterio is a plain-looking customer, but 110 appears to have tho knack of galloping, and is shaping well for a beginner. New Boy was going comfortably to run four furlongs in 54 l-5s and Prince Amans ran the last five of six furlongs in 1.7.

Golden Spahi, the two-year-old full-brother to Catoma, sprinted three furlongs in 38 4-ss. Like other members of his family, this youngster will probably tako time to mature and J. K. 'lhorpe is not hurrying liia preparation. Red Lion Goes Well. . Bonnylea reeled ofT three furlongs in SO l-5s and her stable-mate, Sub-Editor, wont an easy five furlongs in 1.11 1-5. Red Lion and Spring Song ran fivo furlongs from practically a stand in 1.4 2-o, a smart effort. Rod Lion was finishing the stronger, but Spring Song's effort was a satisfactory one. Gay Idea and Praetor placed four furlongs behind in 51 2-sa. Gay Idea benefited by the racing she had at AV hangarei and should bo an improved filly the next time she is called upon to race. Royal Gallant was better than Herbie over four furlongs in 52 2-ss. while Brown Prince covored the samo distance in 55 l-ss. Currajong encompassed a round in 1.49 2-5, tho last six furlongs taking 1.21 4-5. This hack has been getting through plenty of ■'-useful work without being asked for his best and seems to be thriving on tho treatment. Lost Comot easily beat Absent over four furlongs in 53 1-5. Absent was afterwards sent another four furlongs with Bennio and Quincoma. but he and Quincoma could not pace it with Bennie. who ran the distance in 60s. Bennie does not appear to have been affected to any degrco by bis bleeding turn at Whangarei. King Swift (Olive) jumped n couple of hurdles, but did not impress TAKAPUNA MEETING. ACCEPTANCES ON FRIDAY. Acceptances for the first day of tho lakapuna Jockey Club's Spring Meeting on November 29 and December 1 closo at 5 p.m. next Fridal' with tho secretary, Mr. F. D. MoVay. TRAINING AT WANGANUI. CANDIDATES FOR LEVIN. [BY TKI.EC.RAPU.—OWN CORRESPONDENT'.] WANGANUI. Tuesday. Fine weather prevailed for training operations at "Wanganui this morning when several Wanganui horses with engagements at Levin and Feilding were sent along at a fast clip. Number ono track, was used' and proved in splendid order, but it was not until after breakfast that anything of a searching naturo was asked. Waller Rayner gavo Pomp, Pedestal, Solauge and Impetuous useful work, tho first three named hitting out well in tiood pace work. They are engaged at Feilding and will, all going well in the meantime, make tho journey for that fixture. Queaiibeyan was another that worked early, the mare hilling out well. Hinewai covered fivo furlongs without being asked to nialco timo. Knollmere was out soon after the breakfast interval but was only given useful work. Ho looks in good order for his task at Feilding, where ho is engaged in the Aorangi Trial, but will meet several with a considerable amount of Tacing expeiioiiee. Zarono was another who was not asked to do anything serious, being trolled around on tho plough. Half pace work was allotted to Paratoo, who looks well after his racing at Trentham and Riccarton.

Auctioneer (J. Barry) conceded Onepai (lightweight) about Ihroo lengths' start over six furlongrf, but was still a length behind at llto finish, though lie was not kicked up. Tho first furlong took Ills, the first quarter 255, tho thrco furlongs 375, and tho half mile a tick under 50s. Tho full distance was covered in lm 17s. Both wont well and Onepai looks like developing into a useful sort. Ho will be at Levin and Feilding, while Auctioneer will be at both centres. Arisus was accompanied by a Tonbridgo gelding in a sprint over thrco furlongs, which they covered in 38 3-ss. Ferndon. with a lightweight in tho saddle, was sent seven furlongs and covorod tho distance in lm 34 l-ss. Ho was slow over tho first furlong, taking 13 l-ss, while tho first qijarler took 265. Then ho reached tho end of half a mile ill 51 1-58, taking lm 5s for tho fivo furlongs, and was not hurried over tho final stages. Ho was hitting out freely all the way and could havo done a good deal bolter if ho had had a companion. It is understod that ho will be a certain starter in the Levin Handicap on Saturday. Korokio whs * given a circuit at hulf pace and a spurt up tho straight. TROTTING FIXTURES. November 19, 22—Auckland Trotting Club. November 27, 29—Forbury Pork Trotting Club.
