EFFORTS BY TEACHERS.

GOOD RESULTS AT MATAMATA.

[Br TELEGRAPH. —OWN COKnESPOVDENT. ] MATAMATA. Tuesday.

The teaching staff of the Matamata Junior High School has raised over £IOO for the school funds in the past few weeks by means of the play "Are You a Mason ?" Led by the headmaster, Mr. J. F. Wells, the staff has each year staged a suitable comedy to raise funds to augment the grants allocated to the high school committee. During the past four and a-half years over £750 has been raised by these means. In commenting on the position Mr. E. C. Banks, chairman of the school committee, stated that the district owed a deep debt of gratitude to the headmaster and staff, as without the funds raised by them through producing plays the committee could not have carried on. Their efforts had been freely made, and the district lucky to have such a teaching staff in charge of the school. The committee placed on record its appreciation of the efforts of the headmaster and staff.
