COX'S CREEK AREA.

IMPROVEMENT SCHEME. RECREATION FACILITIES. The proposed scheme for the improvement of Cox's Creek inlet, by the construction of a boat harbour outside the bridge and filling in to provide a recreation ground inside, was explained at an open-air meeting of residents of Heme Bay and Richmond last evening. The meeting was convened bv Mr. T. L. Thompson, commodore of the Richmond Cruising Club, and was attended by Mr. ,T. S. Fletcher, M P., and Mr. J. Donald and Mr. W. H. Murray, members of the City Council.

Mr. Thompson said the scheme had been under consideration for some time and interest had been quickened as the present time was thought to bo suitable for carrying out the work as unemployment relief.

Mr. Donald and Mr. Murray supported the scheme and urged the people of the district to take an active interest in the proposal. Mr. Fletcher said he had received an assurance from the Government that subsidies were still available to local bodies for unemployment, work. A deputation will place the proposal bofore the City Council on Thursday evening.
