ENGLISH CRICKETERS.
GRIQUALAMD WEST MET. HOME TEAM BATTING WELL. (Received November 16. 6.S p.m.) KIMBERLEY. Nov. 15. The English cricketers bad their first experience of a matting wicket to-day in a match against Griqualand West. It is an interesting match, as tho homo team is expected to provide a number of players for the two test matches at Johannesburg on matting. All the South African selectors were present. Balaskas was most impressive and probably- played himself into the test matches. He used his feet well and showed stubborn defence. With Helfrich, a youth of 17, be has added 10G for tho fifth wicket in 95 minutes and both are not out.
The homo team had made 230 for four wickets when stumps wero drawnNicholson made 57, Balaskas 82, not out, and Helfrich 36, not out.
