TROTTING AT EPSOM.

) NEXT WEEK'S MEETING. ACCEPTORS FOR WEDNESDAY. NINE IN PRINCIPAL EVENT. JELLICOE HANDICAP FIELD. Acceptances for the fast day of the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting, to be held next Wednesday and -1 Saturday, closed yesterday. They are very satisfactory, the eight races having drawn a total of 89 acceptors. Nine horses figure in the Jellicoe Handicap, the principal event. Details are as follows:

AUCKLANDERS DO WELL. KOHARA AND JEWEL POINTER. The Otahuliu-trained pacers, Kohara and Jev.ei Pointer, who represented .the Auckland district in the New ijealaud Cup. both put up creditable performances, although laiiing to return a dividend t in the final. Koix&ra won his division in the fast time of 4.21, aud, as this was faster than ; Wrackler's winning ettort, his stay-at-home admirers anticipated a victory in the linal, without being cognisant ol how the respective heats were run. Jewel Pointer ran prominently in o his division, securing third place, and later in the day won the ten-furlongs race with fine dash. both horses put up solid ellorts in the cup final, Jewel Pointer finishing third and Kohara fourth. Neither had any chance with the winner, Wrackler, who has proved himself a great pacer. The Auckland representatives both worked well before leaving for the South, and the respective trainers, S. M. August and IS. 8. Grout, were confident of being in the money. Their judgment was accurate, a* both admitted beiore leaving Auckland that Wrackler would bo a hard kor& to beat. ( FLORENT FOR AUCKLAND CUP. ; QUALIFIED LAST FEBRUARY. A notable absentee from the entry list for next week's meeting at Alexandra Park is Plorent, who last month won the principal event on the second day of tho Auckland fixture. It was generally thought that Florcnt would be nominated for the chief race next Wednesday to find his • prospective mark for the Auckland Cup, but, as he qualified for the cup last February, when he tramped 4.27 into second place, his party is evidently satisfied to await later developments. It will be interesting to see how Florent is assessed for the Auckland Cup. When Mountain Dell won on tho opening day last month she was penalised 3(5 yards for the final day, but did not accept. Florent won on that occasion, being on 4.29, and a similar penalty would bring him back to 4.2 G. However, it is safe to predict that when assessed in a high-class field such as will be entered for the cup Florent will not receive such a severe penalty for his recent win. WINTON CLUB'S MEETING.
