"HERALD HOUSE."

OUR CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN. . On our page to-day, you will sec I lift photo of a beautiful doll's house, the kind of doll's house one. dreams about in childhood, but a dream which very seldom come 3 true! Now, I am going to ask the Herald Brigade to make this dream come true for many little girls —and little boys too! —*vho are orphans, who will know no joy of home and parents, such as you all know, this coming Christmas. They are the children of the Papatoetoe Orphanage, and I think it would be a beautiful idea if our bovs and girls could find the money required to purchase this delightful doll s house, and present it to the orphans as a gift from the Herald Brigade, and as a kind of thank-offering for all tin* happiness and blessings you have that are denied these other little children. The house has been built by a returned soldier, and the cost of it is £lO. If is very strongly built, stands about 3ft. high, and contains five rooms, all of which are open from tho back ol the house, and can be furnished. The finish of Iho house is perfect—no shoddy work here, and when we fix the name-plate llkrald House," over tho entrance porch, I can assure you it will bo a gift wo may well bo proud to donate! This is quite a new venturo for our Brigade, and will take the place of our usual Santa Claus Sleigh effort. We usually succeed in raising between £4O and £SO for our Christmas campaign, so I am quite sure all our boys and girls will readily respond to an appeal for the very moderate sum I am asking for this year, £lO. If thero is any money over—and I am hoping there will he!—then w'e will put it into goodie-boxes for the poor old folk, as wo did last Christmas, but 1 want tho £lO as soon as possible, so that wo can pay the builder of the house . . And, by tho way, don't you think Die name, " Herald House," is a good one ? For years and years to come, tho little children who play with this beautiful house will thus be reminded of the kind-

ness and unselfishness of our boys nricl giris, who, during the last few* yenrs, have done so much good work for the sick and poor in this city of Auckland. Special donation cards, with a little picture ot Herald House, are now being 'printed for members of our Circles who wish to collect subscriptions. Individual donations of one shilling and upward will bo gratefully received, and acknowledged in this column. Special competitions for girls and boys in connection with tho furnishing of the dolls' house are also announced to day. Now. that's all for this week, but I have more to tell you next Saturday. Donations may now be sent in, and how delighted I shall be it there are some good sums to place at. the head of our llr.it.un f-fou.se fund next week! Donations to be forwarded to Miss Morton, Editor Boys and Girls, envelopes marked " Herald House Fund." ,
